Overview

Turnkey Execution – Twin Viaducts over Jeddah–Makkah Highway & Makkah Third Ring Road
(Entrance and Exit Structures of KAAR / MASAR Project)

Scope of Works

Complete EPC execution of two critical viaducts serving as the main entrance and exit links to the King Abdul Aziz Road (KAAR) – MASAR Corridor, a landmark urban mobility project in Makkah. The viaducts cross both the Jeddah–Makkah Highway and Makkah’s Third Ring Road, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for pilgrims and local commuters.

FCCSA delivered the full scope including:

Earthworks

  • Mass excavation, embankment, and backfilling operations tailored to deep foundations and phased construction zones.

Formwork System (Supply & Apply)

  • High-precision modular formwork for piers, abutments, and deck segments, ensuring efficient casting cycles.

Reinforcement Works

  • Reinforcement steel supply, cutting, bending, and on-site placement per AASHTO and MOT standards.

Post-Tensioned Prestressing

  • Supply and installation of post-tensioning system including PT ducts, high-tensile strands, stressing operations, anchorage systems, and grouting.

Bridge Bearings & Expansion Joints

  • Installation of elastomeric bearings and pot bearings.
  • Modular expansion joint supply and application for movement accommodation and durability.

Finishing Works

  • Application of anti-carbonation protective paint for concrete durability and aesthetic surface finish.
  • Detailing of parapets, edge treatments, and signage interface.

Strategic Importance

  • These viaducts are gateway structures to the MASAR urban development corridor, handling high-profile ceremonial and seasonal pilgrim traffic.
  • Executed under a fast-track schedule to meet Hajj readiness milestones.
  • Interface managed with live roadways and continuous coordination with MASAR and municipal authorities.
